Dear "Dime" Members,
Here we are once again with more uncirculated Audience Masters from our friends in Europe.
It's a new year and we still have alot more to share in this series(WTE).
As usual, be prepared for some strange and interesting bands and recordings.
And of course some time honored "Classic" bands as well!

Once again i would like to ask those that still have such "treasures" tucked away,
to please consider sharing them the way these generous people have.
None of us are getting any younger and what good will any of your recordings be when you're DEAD!

So Ladies & Gentleman, Boys & Girls, Brothers & Sisters,
For your entertainment & "earjoyment"

VIRUS are best known for their first album " Revelation", recorded in 1970, a milestone in Krautrock history.
Only month later a new line up recorded "Thoughts" a less psychedelic, more blues /rock orientated album.
Although the band lived only about 40 km from my hometown, they did not play very often in Minden,
so I only saw them twice. The first time in 1973 which may be a later WTE upload.
I remember the circumstances of this 1974 concert quite well.
As usual my friend and me arrived at the Grille in the afternoon, a foot walk of about 40 minutes lying behind us.
We carried a wooden box containing the tape machine, 50m power cable and mic stands on our shoulders - we were 16 and fanatics.
VIRUS and second band MISSUS BEASTLY agreed that VIRUS should be the band to play first.
Our recording set up was ready at about 6 pm, doors would open at 7, the concert was to begin at 8.
Usually about 100 people were waiting outside for the doors to open, but this night - nothing.
At about 8 pm there were not more than 10 paying listeners in the hall with a capacity of 900.
The bands decided to fulfil their contract , otherwise they hardly would have seen a Deutschmark.

This needs to be said to do justice to the performance of VIRUS that very night.
There had been a change on keyboards, Joerg Dieter Krahe (Hammond) had left the band and new member,
young "George" Kochbeck (Rhodes piano, synth.) had an enormous influence on style and repertoire of the band.
Most compositions in this recording are from him and have never been published before in any way.
VIRUS disbanded only month if not weeks later, and no recordings were released of this extremely short lived last incarnation of the band.
One band member during the concert describes the situation as a "public rehearsal" which exactly is what you hear on this tape.
Rough versions of not fully developed material.
I always loved this concert, the special atmosphere and definitely the Kochbeck compositions.
I dont mind the Schmalz in some of his songs.

Kochbeck formed SKYLINE shortly after this concert, a unit with more funk and jazzy elements.
A very popular direction in Krautrock of that time. Some ex-VIRUS members followed him.~ "Herb Smith"(original taper)
