Local artist Willie K is truly a multi-talented artist. Just listen to any of his various pieces of work and you'll know.Check out http://williek.com/

Over the last few years, he's focused on his blues background and put together a blues festival here on Maui. Last year's festival was extremely successful (featuring
Steven Tyler from Aerosmith, Angela Strehli from Stevie Ray & Jimmy Vaughn bands as well
as Elvin Bishop). So much so that people had to be turned away at the door.

This year, he not only hosted the 2nd annual incarnation of the festival, he was able to
inaugurate an entirely new venue on Maui to fit the thousands of people who wanted to attend this event.

The 2014 Blues festival featured many guests during the Warehouse Blues Band set
- Patrick Simmons (Doobie Brothers), Mick Fleetwood, Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top) and
a wonderful female vocalist - Lehua Kalima.

The stage was set up so there were 2 main speaker stacks. If I recall, 4
cabinets on the bottom (woofers) and 6 cabinets on top for highs and mids. Next
to each stack was 1 large speaker, which I assume was meant as fill. During the
first bands performance, speakers in the stage left stack blew. During the set
break, they weren't able to track down the problem. so it sounded like all 10
cabinets were turned off and the one fill (?) speaker was cranked up. The left
and right channels in this recording are balanced as best as can be.

This torrent is the performance of Willie's band - The Warehouse Blues Band -
with the special guests mentioned previously. This benefit for the National
Kidney Foundation also featured other outstanding musicians - the Tom Conway
Blues Band, the Bobby Ingram Band (look Bobby up on the internet), Robert
Belfour, Mike Carroll and his band and the Kings of Spade from Honolulu.

If you can, plan to be here on Maui for next year's fest. To whet your appetite
a bit, check out the video from the 2013 Blues fest featuring Steven Tyler (Aerosmith)
singing with Willie and the band at the Willie K Website:

Don't miss Willie K if he appears in your town on the mainland
and buy the CD's of our local Hawaii artists. Oh, and keep in mind that the idea
of "political correctness" is much looser in Hawaii. It's part of what makes being
in the islands great.

Aloha from Maui
