Warren Haynes' Pre-Christmas Jam
The Orange Peel
Asheville, North Carolina, USA
Dec 11, 2009

The Warren Haynes' Christmas Jam, an annual benefit for Habitat For Humanity, celebrates it's 21st year in Asheville, NC in 2009. This is an incredible annual event where an amazing list of musicians donate their time to participate. And all proceeds go straight to the cause.

Warren stages a shorter pre-jam before the real jam at the Civic Center. Now short is a relative term meaning different things to different individuals. Here's Warren's definition - 40 songs spanning 5 hours and 20 minutes of music.

Here's a list of some of the artists on this one. They float in and out. Lots of musical styles represented. Diverse....and a helluva lot of fun.

I'm not familiar enough with all the artists' work to put together an accurate setlist. It will probably be posted on http://www.xmasjam.com/2009/ very soon, possibly before I even get this posted.

One of the highlights of this event for me each year is the cool cover songs. Among the artists covered this year - Elton John, The Rolling Stones, CSNY, Fairport Convention, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Cream and The Beatles (Any takers on a 10 minute blues soaked version of "Taxman"?).

This is an FM with some slight fuzzies here and there but these are mostly unnoticeable during the musical portions. Hopefully if there's a cleaner copy out there and someone has the inclination (or absolute stupidity as I do) to invest the time to track and post this behemoth they will do so. Check the samples and use the democratic process.

Otherwise, here's one from Doodee Claus. Y'all enjoy.

Trade only. Support Warren Haynes and all the artists by buying their records and merchandise and attending their shows. More importantly, please support Habitat For Humanity. Support your local public radio station as well.
