History.
i had this in my tape collection for around 20 years, never got round to digitising it until sometime in 2023, when i ran into the issue of WTF is going on here ? , the tapes contained two versions of a number of songs, why? There was no explanation on the tapes, which came with only the date and nothing else, no equipment detail, or a setlist.
I could not make head or tale of this so i put it aside, then i found the advert for the show ( included in flac folder) and all was made clear, there was an early AND a late set.
So, the presumption is, the taper( s) recorded both shows but only captured the whole of the last one. there are gaps in the first recording where the recorder was stopped , possibly to save tape. Or there were two tapers and the results have been combined. The second show is lesser quality, the sound is rather muddy on occasions and there was more hiss, i had to apply 4db noise reduction and lower the 6khz band to remove hiss on quiet portions in show two. The first show is brighter and has better separation overall.
I also removed some crowd noise in set two, this audience appears to be noisier then the audience in the first show, probably had more time to get liquored up. . However there is very little talking near the taper and overall this is a very listenable show that does not appear to have had much circulation.
Big thanks to"tracybjazz" for listening to the show and for deciphering the setlist and to my buddy vierstein91 for liaison.
Lineage
Unknown generation and equipment , obtained in a trade from who the f-ck knows . Sadly, its all lost in the mists of time.
Marantz SD 415 DECK> Mac pro 5.1 > Adobe audition 5.5 > minor multi band compression within Acoustica 7.5 , >acon digital declick to remove/lower applause> noise reduction of around-4b and lowered 6khz freq, Flac transfer >XACT ( LEVEL 8 )\
