A Doodee Music Master Recording

This post is all about freely sharing some great music, spreading the word about these bands, increasing sales of their goods and attendance at their shows and having a little fun.

The Bob Weir / Chris Robinson / Jackie Greene Acoustic Trio just completed a very limited tour and I was lucky enough to catch one of these shows. I gotta say this is my favorite show I've seen so far in 2012. Absolutely great musicianship displayed here and a fun setlist to boot. Was interesting to see once again how far Chris has come with his guitar playing and how it continues to evolve. Jackie peppered a few songs with banjo that lent a cool vibe. Bob broke out the slide on some tunes. Real nice interplay between the musicians.

During the first set word began to spread that we'd lost NC guitar legend Doc Watson. The band found out during the set break and added an unplanned "Deep River Blues" to kick off the second set to pay their respects to Doc. You can always count on classy musicians to give reverence where it's due.

A word about the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium - I'm always very happy when an artist I want to see plays this theatre because it has incredible sound. And when I actually attend the show I'm even more blown away as the sound always seems to be even more spectacular that I remember. No exception on this night with the outstanding acoustic dynamics.

Nice headphone listen here if that's your bag. This one definitely earns the Uncle D triplicate. Y'all enjoy.
