This Is The Infamous Debut Show Of The American Leg Along Their "Quadrophenia" Tour Where One Feeble-Minded Maniac Backstage At The Cow Palace Obviously Thought It Would Be Funny (Or Helpful Or The Sf Spirit Or Whatever) To Spike Keith' Drink(S) With Horse Tranquilizers. I'd Regard This Simply An Attempted Murder.

Thank God Keith's Constitution Was Still Extremely Strong At That Point - And That There Was No Show Scheduled For The 21St, As He Urgently Needed The Next Day To Recover. Pete Recalls In A Interview Something To The Effect That They Pushed Keith Around In A Wheelchair For Their Next Show In La, With Moon Looking And Feeling Real Terrible, At One Heartbeat Per Minute And Only Going Quietly "Help" Every Now And Then...

The Show Made It To R&R (Or At Least, Who) Lore As The Band Didn't Simply Abort Their Show After Keith's Collapse But Called Out For A Drummer In The Audience To Finish Their Show Properly. A Very Professional And Pretty Gutsy Move From The Band's - And The Young Drummer's - End, Imho (Though I Personally Would Have Preferred A Proper Show With Keith In This Quality).

As I Announced In My Last Upload (The Who-London 1973/12/23 Remaster, Torrent #377000), I Now Share This Real Nice Sounding Show With You. Since The Forthcoming "Quadrophenia Director's Cut" 5 Cd Deluxe Box Will Incomprehensably Not Contain Any Live Material, Let Alone A 1973 Show, I Thought It May Be A Good Idea To Give My Fellow Whonatix At Least Something For Comfort. If You Have Any Other Good-Sounding 1973 Show, Please Learn A Lesson And Follow Suit, Ok? Thanks.

It May Be Of Interest For Sh*Tyoda F*Ckords - And Crooked Likeminded - That This Recording Is Not Really New On The Bootleg Market And In Collectors' Circles: A Few Years Back The Bootleggers At 4 Reel Got Hold Of A Copy Of This Audience Recording, Synched It With The Video Of The Old And Well-Known B&W Bill Graham Film Which Has A Rather Crappy Sound. I Guess That Was About The Best They Could Do. Iirc, They Claimed Their Audio Was Also A 1St Gen. Off The Master Copy, But I Don't Know If They Doctored On It For Their Release. Anyway, This Here Is Definitely Not Off The 4 Reel Release, Plus It Is Left Completely Untouched By Yours Truly.

And Now Again For Something Completely Different (Yo, Sure!):
Uploaded To Dimeadozen By Docdondy In October, 2011 With Many Thanks To The Taper For His Way Above Standard Sound Quality (Especially When It Comes To The Earsplitting Level At A Who Show).

Not For Frigging Sale – For Trading And Sharing Only. Don't Be An Arseh*Le And Try To Make A Few Dirty Bucks From This Freely Shared Show, Ok? And Yes, That Means Especially Again You, Sh*Tyoda F*Ckords. But We All Know You Will Of Course Ignore My Plea Again Since You Are A F*Cker.

Do Not Spread A Version Of This Otherwise Untouched Upload If You Fumbled On It (I.E. If You Felt You Had To „Remaster“, Tinker Or Doctor On It). Do That For Your Private Joy And Pass On The Innocent Version. And Please Don't Pollute The Pool By Passing On Lossy Versions, Ok? Deal?? Well, We'll See...

It Would Be Nice And Much Appreciated If Someone With The Skills Felt Like Making Some Nice Cover Artwork...

Who Ahoy!
