Wilco are finally back, after a 18 months hiatus, the longest in their career so far.
After two warm-up shows in Knoxville last week, this was the first show in Europe since July 2017,
the first of two nights in the beautiful Ancienne Belgique, their sixth visit there I think.

I had not seen the band since August 2012, although I've been to a couple of Jeff Tweedy shows,
so expectations were high and we weren't disappointed, with two long 120 minute shows
featuring only two repeats from Night 1 to Night 2, a staggering 49 different songs in all.
Audiences were enthusiastic and loud, took me quite some time to balance the volume levels
of the whoooos and whistles and singers next to me with the actual musical content.
Although I had to use the internal mics, the recording itself turned out quite nice.

Highlights of Night 1 included the rarely played How To Fight Loneliness,
a stripped down version of Reservations, the ever fascinating Impossible Germany
and - rather unexpectedly - Random Name Generator.
