Comments:

Last show of a three-night run in Chicago celebrating the 20th anniversary of their classic album "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot." Despite the limited nature of this tour (5 nights in New York plus 3 in Chicago), the band pulled out all the stops with a tightly choreographed stage show including a four-piece string quartet and three-piece horn section, as well as full stage lighting, strobes, etc. The live performance contained all of the idiosyncratic audio elements of the album, either reproduced onstage or augmented via tapes.

The YHF set was mesmerizing. After 20 years, one forgets how incredible and groundbreaking the album was, but the live reproduction was both faithful to the original and served to remind us of how brilliant the songwriting was.

The "post-encore" set was interesting and entertaining. Rather than reprise a series of their most well-known songs, the band played six YHF outtakes to stick with the theme, followed by two "Being There" songs to close the show. A bit short at 90 minutes, but gripping and highly entertaining.

I recorded this from a "box" that was roughly 2/3 of the way back on the floor; however, the sound was better than I experienced on night 1 up close on the floor. The sound is a bit distant, but very clear and unencumbered with audience interference. If you're a fan of the band and the album, the distance from the PA won't bother you a bit.

Can't wait to catch them again (hopefully) later in 2022!

Mp3 samples are included in the comments.
