Comments: This recording captures Wilco at the first night of their "No Repeats" three-night residency at the Riviera Theatre in Chicago. Over the three nights, they played an astonishing 68 songs from their 30-year (!) catalog. The shows all clocked in at a little under two hours, but they were efficiently run and high-energy performances.
This recording was made DFC in the 2nd row of the balcony; all in all, probably one of the best places to tape from in this venue. (I have always had a hard time getting a good recording here, particularly from the floor, where an overhang tends to muddy the acoustics and the rowdy crowd often overshadows the music.) Very good recording overall, though it sounds a bit more distant than I would like. On the other hand, there is almost no crowd interference, so that was a trade-off I would make every time. Since no other recordings have surfaced as of yet, I think Wilco collectors will be satisfied with this recording.
Check out the samples in the comments if in doubt.
