I definitely spent more nights there than any other club anywhere. I haven't released too many of my recordings from there in my BARN series, but there will definitely be lots more to come out over time. Anyway, enjoy The Wild Magnolias, one of the seminal New Orelans funk and groove bands that also incorporates some of the traditions of the Mardi Gras Indians, as well as some of their singing and costumes. On this night they did 3 smokin' tunes before bringing out the indians and taking it up to another level. This is a superb band (the membership in the band changes from night to night), definitely populated with their "A list' players. I mean, any opportunity to hear June Yamagichi play guitar is worth the effort....so whether he's playing with these guys or with Papa Grows Funk, or whatever, the guy shreds. Also note that this recording, from 7 years later than my last BARN (from 1993) is truly superb in quality -- I mean a true gem. I really knew how to make a great recording inside Wetlands (many many props to the various sound mixers over the years -- and to Rob in particular for mixing this show), and it shows here. So enjoy your authentic taste of New Orleans for BARN56....
