The Review: Willie Nelson was in town for the grand opening of a bio-diesel plant here in Durant. Proceeds of this show went to
help the local firefighters, after the awful fire season we have had. This was one of the first real shows we have seen in Durant,
and this was at the Choctaw Coliseum on the Choctaw Nation Reservation. The place was reasonably full, and the crowd was relatively
polite. Willie played with his family and went through many of his hits, and his son Lucas played a cover of 'Texas Flood' by Steve
Via. The set was a little shorter than some of the others on his recent tour, and I think part of that was due to the 'cutting the
ribbon' ceremony which preceded the show. The crowd was ready to leave when he played 'I Saw The Light', which was very disappointing,
but it was an older crowd.
The Recording: The recording came out OK. It came out a little echoey due to the tin can of a venue and our distance from the stage. At the
show, you could barely hear Willie's vocals. They sound a little cleaner on the recording thank god. This was my first real stealth job
with the MT 24/96 as well.
