Willie Nile had two critically acclaimed albums in the early 1980s ("Willie Nile" in 1980 and "Golden Down" in 1981). He then spent ten years sidetracked by legal problems, as he filed for bankruptcy while in a dispute with a record label.

He was based in the New York City area, and I missed him entirely at the time (as I'm out on the West Coast), so digitizing this was a good introduction to his first two albums for me.

He's got a bit of Dylan, a bit of Springsteen - he's a singer-songwriter backed by a rock and roll band. If you find this of interest, there's a good 2-cd collection from 2006 called "Willie Nile - The Arista Columbia Recordings 1980-1991" that compiles all songs from his first three albums.

I've included scans of the cue sheet and the disc label. The commercials are tracked so you can drop them out if you don't like them.
The original recording date is not listed, but Nile did play at the Agora on May 11, 1981, as the opening act for Greg Kihn.
