In June 1999, Willy DeVille toured through Europe and did, a.o., a show in Paradiso, Amsterdam.
After the show, Willy turned up in caf 't Aepjen (like he had promised to do so before...) and just played there about an hour with the audience sometimes as backing vocals... .
It shows Willy not only as a special musician, but also as a great human being, no bla bla, no stardom, just a guy playing in a bar. An unique document of a man who's still missed very much.
On youtube you can find a short (about 14 minutes) movie of this special event (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qxZz1yrw3Y, but here's the whole "concert".
The story behind it all can be found here (in Dutch!): http://www.zeedijknieuws.nl/2009/12/
A while ago I found a cassettetape of this event, the quality was pretty bad, a lot of drop outs ,aso.
Some pretty long intro's, some talking, background noise aso, but I tried to restore it as good as I could and the result is here! The quality is what you might expect from a recording made bij a simple cassetterecorde, but it's a real must have for his fans!
Never been circulating before, an very unique performance of a great artist!!
