Most of what is important and unique about this show has already been said by "Monstie" in his liner notes to the 1996 bootleg CD-R, entitled "PRIMAL SHAPE"; you can find these in the torrent. They are quite an interesting read for serious collectors (IMHO) if you take into account that they were written about 14 years back.

This show here stems from exactly the same source tape as that CD-R was made from, with (virtually) exactly the same equalizer settings as for the CD, and just (slightly) speed corrected.

"PRIMAL SHAPE" turned out to be Monstie's very last CD-R bootleg release, and with its small running of only 50 hand-numbered copies, it has since become a much sought-after collector's item. Monstie was obviously aiming at giving the fans the opportunity to hear this hitherto uncirculated show without trying to make big bucks with his release.

Mind that this was still way before the advent DAT cassettes in trading circles at around 1997, and of home-burnable CD-R's at around 1999/2000; in those days only very few studios had those super-expensive CD-R burners, and even the blank CD-Rs would cost a fortune. Hence, a CD-R “release” was more or less the only way to spread and share shows lossless.

Well, you lucky Dimers now get this show here with three more tracks which Monstie had to leave off due to the capacity restrictions of the then common 74 min. CD-R medium, i.e. "THE KING WILL COME", IT STARTED IN HEAVEN" and "BLOWIN' FREE". With these you get all numbers of the show that were recorded, while the last two in the set - "JAIL BAIT" and "BAD WEATHER BLUES" - obviously didn't make it to the taper's cassette.

Now, this show is really something for Wishboneionados: it provides the last ever known (re-) appearance of “Silver Shoes” (which had already been dropped in early 1975), the longest known “Outward Bound” with a *long* funky middle section, and the rare acoustic “Candle Light” which was soon dropped after the Japanese leg of the tour.

Many, many thanks again from my end to Dr. John (USASH) for sourcing this tape from the original taper, and to this unknown Japanese fan for taping and sharing “his” show.

Wishbone ahoy!
