NOTES ::: Excellent FM recording with 2 folkblues guitar masters playing together. Along with Davey Graham, Wizz is one of the forefathers of the 1960s British folkblues guitar scene that spawned Bert Jansch, John Renbourn & hundreds of other guitarists. Still playing today & as good as ever.

Recording Information ::: stereo radio broadcast -> off-air master tape -> 1st generation cassette -> 2nd generation TDK SA-90 cassette, Dolby off? (not indicated)

Playback 2011-07-23 ::: 2nd generation TDK SA-90 cassette on Nakamichi BX-300 cassette deck, Dolby off, azimuth & pitch adjusted, heads cleaned & demagnatized -> Tascam CD-RW900SL pro CD recorder -> CD-RW -> computer -> EAC secure -> wav file(s) -> Audacity (for fades and/or glitch repair, volume adjustments, no EQ) -> CD Wave for track splits -> Trader's Little Helper -> various ears around the world.

Line-up ::: Wizz Jones - guitar, vocals // Werner Lämmerhirt - guitar, vocals

Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.

Thanks to the original taper & traders. My copy came from Doc Tinker, music collector extraordinaire.

Corrections welcome. If the pitch is still incorrect, email me & maybe I can fix it. I use a pitch pipe, check 3-4 songs & when in doubt compare 1-2 songs on a time-appropriate album, but sometimes I'm off.

Cool Sonics Series CSS-028 ::: I for one enjoyed this pairing very much. I like the record they did together, "Roll On River" (released on FolkFreak in German in 1981), which has still never entered the digital domain. I think their guitar playing & vocals work well together. Werner was still singing in English back in these days, his playing was not as slick as it is today & he's playing with one of his mentors. He also keeps his talking to a more managable quantity than usual. Wizz is is great form, the studio audience is very appreciative, & it makes one long for the day when radio could really be interesting on a big scale. It also fine to hear some different songs from Wizz, mixed in with some of his standards, & great to hear him jamming on some songs. Plus we get more than a fragment of a show. So sit back, pour yourself a glass & crank 'er up. More recordings on the way. Until Sept. 2011, I suffered from SERIOUSLY slow internet access & am fixing my ratio as fast as I can, now that I am able. Enjoy, share, give, spread peace.

Since we're gettin' older & reminiscin' is in vogue... Kudos to: Zongo for life support & Lochner for microphones & much more. A bow to Fast Freddie for running Video Dick's Record Emporium with the bathroom office full of tape decks. Thanks to Hanwaker (few among us can keep his pace) for over 30 years of trading & friendship. Mountains of gratitude to Davmar, D.White, Sanchez, Elliot, The Florida Kid, Kloiber, Zingg, JTW, Bershaw, Boston Gold, Weeks, Dixon, Moore, Gough (G.-if you read this, get in touch!) & SO many more for all that collecting & sharing... Royal thanks to The Man In The Palace, Doc Tinker, Brinkhoffs, Barely Eatin', Reel Master Gaule, Dean Parrish & all those traders who housed & fed me through my music acquisition & travel years. Steppin' back to the roots - hats off to Brother Kent, Uncle Jake, Ena Whisnant (& her neighbor Frank) & his honor Ptomaine Thomas. Glasses raised to Byron for musical horizon expansion & much obliged to J & Thurston for keepin' my concert fires burnin' since my continental shift. Thanks to the Mods for keepin' DIME alive.
