Woody Shaw Concert Ensemble
Laren ("de Boerenhofstede"), the Netherlands
27 January, 1977
The Dexter Gordon LP/CD "Homecoming" was recorded 11/12 December 1976 at the Village Vanguard in New York. Some six weeks later is here the same quintet, but now completed with Rene McLean and Slide Hampton:
as the Woody Shaw Concert Ensemble at "De Boerenhofstede" in Laren, the Netherlands, for Dutch TROS radio (program Sesjun), Thursday January 27, 1977.
Under the same name, essentially the same group - except Frank Foster replacing Dexter Gordon - had played the Berlin Jazz Festival, November 6, 1976 (four titles issued on the Muse label, and on a 32 Jazz CD).
My taping of the broadcast. Unfortunately, again one of the few broadcasts that I've taped in a MONAURAL format.
Enjoy!
