taper notes:
Don't terribly remember a lot about these 2 shows. Had good seats close to the stage for both, and got some pretty good pictures (buried in a tote somewhere). I believe this was ZZ Top's first Alaska appearance, and they added a 2nd show after the 1st sold out. In a rare head-rearing fashion of 'rookie error', I had my levels way too low the first night, and way too low the 2nd night when pressing record, so you have a pretty hissy and low volume start on the 3rd (the sound starts to clean up a little after the 1 minute mark, and the hiss is gone a minute later), and the 4th starts out drastically overloaded (before being adjusted just before the 1 minute mark)...but after that, both shows get dialed in might quick.

All that said, a pretty good and healthy mix of old and new from the Texas Trio. I believe the setlists were carbon-copied both nights with no deviation other than possibly onstage banter. It was like "since we drove all the way to Anchorage, might as well go to both shows". They came back to Alaska in August of '99 for (first-time-in) Fairbanks and Anchorage shows that I heard were poorly attended (nope, didn't even see the Top in my hometown, went camping for my 10th class reunion instead...and that party is a talk-show for another day)

BIG thanks to humbug for the upload, and you never know what he may pull out of the ol' vault of tricks next!
