BOOTLEGS
Remastered
Feedback
Denis Leblanc: I played your Back Bay cdr's and am AMAZED
at the job you've done with them. It's one of my (many) favorites, and now a
fantastic show now has a superior sound. Your review is right on the money cause the
first thing I thought was "wow, the tape hiss is gone, the bass doesn't have that
annoying hall boom". Then I really went "WOW!" cause I was able to
enjoy the show like never before.
Greg Wenker: The packaging and the sound are all first rate. I have the boot CD 'Live Gem Vol. 1' of the '67 concert and the sound quality of your CD's is vastly improved over that. I can now HEAR the individual instruments with this remix. I have boot CD's of just about all the remaster's you are offering but I plan on replacing them one by one with your's.
Mark Wakeham: "Your remaster efforts make the boots so much more listenable. It's one thing to have the "information" in a boot, but normally thay are so full of noise and distortion that you really struggle to drift off into that wonderful state where you close your eyes and imagine you are there. So although I ran my Creamset boot when I returned from UK, your version is the first time I have really LISTENED to this wonderful performance."
Trevor Kempin: "The quality of the recordings are exceptional considering the age of them and the original equipment used to make the recordings. I must congratulate you on the re-mastering work that you have done. Traintime and Toad were magnificant (well, I think so anyway). Thanks again."
Jim Baadshaug: "The Ballroom is just rockin', sound so much better then my DAT. Just incredible."
Tom Steiner: " The CD's I got today have to be the best live CD's of Cream. It doesn't get any better than that. Thanks so much for sending them."
George Hiatt: "Just got the CDs in the mail today. What a treat. Not only is this the most exciting Cream recording I've heard since I saw them, the packaging is supurb. I want to acknowledge the love and work that went in to creating this and for all of the Cream fans old and new, this is a definite must for anyone's collection."
Jeff Leacacos: "Got the CD's on Sat. June 6. Wow!! Just an amazing performance. Your web site review was right on the money and the sound quality was great! It's such an intense listening experience - I can't imagine what it must have been like to have seen them live at that show.
Jack and Ginger seem to be reading each other's mind while playing at lightning speed and Eric's solo's are unbelievable! Just like you said in your review - the improvisations during the songs were at such a high level of energy and creativity - incredible.
Great work on the remastering as well! I'm by no means an experienced bootleg aficionado but to me it sounds very much like the listener is right there at the show".
Richard Hawkins aka Rick: "They were just incredible. Clapton' s never played better - Bruce and Baker just push him. Its amazing how they were all soloing together. Sometimes you think its just going to blow apart but they don't. I thought your early remasters were good enough but this latest one is great. I've got official releases of worse quality!"
Michael Talve: "The sound's not perfect but the performance more than makes up for that. I'd like another copy for a friend who's a mad Clapton fan. It'll knock him out."
Art Ballas: "I received the CDs this week. They sound terrific, thanks for making them available. Also, how is it going with the Brandeis University tape?"
John Berkompas: "Got the CDs this morning - listening to the second right now. Most excellent! Soundwise it is very listenable, you're a talented engineer - nice work! Incredible jams, these guys were fearless, even Clapton back then! Thanks"
John Bujak: "Nice artwork and great liner notes. I've
listened to part of Disk1 and am impressed by the improvement in sound over the
"Creamset" CD. I can actually hear Jack's bass on the remaster. Nice job!
The
performances are awesome; Cream never performed better. That combined with the much
improved sound quality makes for a great listening experience. It's no wonder that I
think that Cream is the best band that ever played together. When I get more time, I
will listen to the rest and give you my impressions. Again, you've done a great job!
Congratulations."
Alan Prendergast: "received the cd's already (and almost worn them out !) considering the obvious limitations of the source, I consider the quality to be excellent and exceed my expectations."
John Farnan: "really amazing stuff !--The fact is, no-one before or since has played anything like that!"
Dennis Gold, Snr: I can't think of enough suprelatives to describe them! Thanks so much! For a "dyed in the wool" Cream Freak" such as myself, the listening experience is a dream come true. Very interesting liner notes as well.
Didier Caminon: "I've listened to the 4 cd's you sent me and I was very happy. Your work is fantastic. It's a real pleasure to listen to those concerts. You told me you were working on other projects, when will it be finished ? "
George Goodwin: "The sound is really good. The groups
playing sounds a lot different (good) from what I have
heard on the Vols I and II and some BBC sessions. Keep up the great work. I am
looking forward to future remastered shows."
Joe Harris: "Yesterday I received the Grande Ballroom CDs and I
must tell you that I was knocked down on the floor !!!!!!!!!!! All other live Cream
performances are pale in comparison ... I guess I'll never be able to enjoy the other
performances again."
Dennis LeBlanc: "It's great to hear all three Creamsters very
clearly. I already had a version on tape but Jack's bass was very low in the mix,
unlike yours.
Your mix of this superb show showcases the band itself."
East Coast '67
Mark Wakham: "You have done a remarkable job with the remastering, I listened to the whole East Coast CDs in one sitting totally transfixed, like some kid in a huge lolly shop. The remastering really brings out the bass and allows you to hear the separate instruments without that annoying hiss in the original."
Art Ballas: "They were really burnin'!. Thanks, another great job".
Tom Steiner: "Wow, incredible. I think Brandeis is my favourite especially NSU and Toad."
Bill Gardner: "Really like 'em"
George Hiatt: "I think they're playing better than Grande Ballroom"
RENOVATING THE BLUES
Mark Wakeham: "You've done it again, they sound so much better. Like being there in the club. How do you do it?"
Didier Caminon: "I spent a very good week end
listening to the CDs you sent to me. The
sound of the Ricky Tick concert is absolutely fabulous, it's great to hear them
playing."
Nathan Samples: "Sound quality is remarkable
considering the age and the state of gear at the time,
plus the setting, a hot, sweaty smokey English nightclub! It's awe inspiring to hear the
raw power of The Boys at those early gigs. It REALLY holds up well. Muchas Gracios"
Chris Buck: Renovating the Blues and East Coast were
great.
Outtakes and Alternates
Mark Wakeham: "I already had quite a few of these but, once again, your's are so much better. Listening to them in recorded order lets you appreciate them a whole lot more."
John Ronald: "Thoroughly enjoyed even as I am typing this letter (although I'm not sure how often I will listen to Ginger Baker playing the spoons!). The amazing thing about all of these performances is how immensely the players adapted, expanded and perfected in the space of just two years."
Europe & West Coast
John Ronald: "The latest Cream CDs have been received and immensely enjoyed. Both of the Europe 67 CDs are joys and the US final tour CDs are equally enjoyable (I think you were rather harsh on Oakland ... the performances are skillful even though a couple of songs show problems, notably a ramshackle 'I'm so glad', however the sound is very good and the your mixes are very interesting compared to Live Cream II and Those Were The Days."
Rob Lake: "Nice job on the covers - that shot you
used for the LA/San Diego ones would make a nice poster. The Swedish
show is outstanding. The Oakland/San Diego stuff is below par but still much
of interest. The drum sound in San Diego is awesome."
Mark Wakeham: "You put a lot of work in ..."We're Going
Wrong" from the video sounds so good ..."
Steven Zulli: "...fantastic job! Well done! Xlnt. recordings!!"
Chris Buck: (Europe) "Another great job!"
And well, lots more but I don't want to brag.
My remasters are now for sale in shops though several generations down the food chain!
