Jackson Browne, Graham Nash, David Crosby, Bonnie Raitt & Mary McCaslin

August 5, 1995
50th Anniversary of Hirshoma Atomic Bomb Anti-Nuke Rally
San Lorenzo Park Benchlands
Santa Cruz, California

From KPIG-FM broadcast via local cable TV FM feed, The reception was a bit noisy in the background, but the music sounds very good anyway.

Recorded on Sony SLC-575UC VHS HiFi deck (on manual level control).
Up to end of Jackson Browne was recorded at the slow speed (SLP), the rest at the fast speed (LP).

Unfortunately for KPIG but better for this recording, technical problems ended up preventing the "live over the air" broadcast, so they had a KPIG DJ driving the Dat masters over to the KPIG studios every once in a while. This dragged the delayed live broadcast out for hours. Since I was going to the event I ran the first tape at slow speed VHS Hi-Fi, but I got back home in time to run the rest at the fast speed because they hadn't yet broadcast the last 2/3rds of what is here. I basically edited 5 or 6 hours of VHS Hi-Fi down to this highlights disc which doesn't leave out anything except lots of political speeches, local music artists and plenty of KPIG commercials and time wasting by the DJ's back at KPIG studios between Dat tapes of the show being played.

I guess this event was historic in more ways than one since the KPIG DJ states that it is the first ever live broadcast over the internet. By the way, the weather was beautiful and attendance was estimated as between 8 and 10 thousand, which made the rather small area where it was VERY crowded.

I am including some documentary material that should provide some extra entertainment, and can also used to create CD artwork.
