Deadlists Comments
Recordings 200 AUD + 200 SBD: the soundboard is complete. Portions were
released as part of Dick's Picks Volume 14. The AUD is complete except the
beginning of Don't Ease Me In, in fairly listenable AUD. An older master
contained only the 1st [20:07] of Playin. But the newer master has the rest of
the Playin In barely listenable patch To provide the complete timing. (2/98)
notes
- this aud must be different than the one referenced in deadlists because
PITB is intact and complete with no change in source
- of interest to the aud collector. I'd rate it a B- overall, mostly because
of the mild distortion systemic to most tunes. Without this it would have
been a B+ or better
flaws
- numerous small duration dropouts isolated in left or right channel. Many are
fixable by monoizing these sections using the good channel, though they were
NOT fixed for this shn set.
- midway into d1t3, the mic gain or equivalent was raised from here on there is
mild distortion on the louder notes that looks like harmonic distortion in a
spectral view. This is the main sonic flaw on this source.
- d1t6: brief garbled moment in the middle
- d2t1 bertha, left channel volume partially reduced in a few places and Mild
distortion, especially on Jerry's notes :(
- d2t2 Promised land has mild overload distortion
- d2t3 row jimmy first notes clipped, some tape wackiness in a few places at
end of Row Jimmy (high whine, some speed variations)
- d2t5 HCS right channel drops sub second near start. last notes clipped
- d3t3 LIG has some of the periods where the hiss or harmonic distortion kicks
in then goes away
- d3t4 brief tape speed weirdness few places
- d3t6 brief bit of digi-like noise in Sugar Magnolia. Also, after the first
few chords something changed to make the sound a bit more distant.

Tagging notes:
Show information is embedded within the header of each flac file.
It will display on any player capable of directly playing flac
files. If converted to wav during processing, all tags will be
stripped, however audio data will remain unaffected. If you must
transcode to a lossy format, do so directly Flac > Lossy.
Use st5 to validate audio integrity.
Md5 values will change if tagging is altered.
