Greatful Dead
12/29/84 (Sat)
San Francisco Civic Auditorium
San Francisco, CA

Source: Schoeps CMC441s (90deg, 17cm) > Oade M118 > Oade mod SONY PCM-F1
Lineage: Master PCM > DAW (via SEKD Prodif) > Wav
Recorded by the Oade Brothers

The Wav files for Set I was corrupt and unreadable/unplayable. I read Set I into DC8.5 Forensics
software, and rewrote the header so that it was listed as 16 bits/44.1kHz. It then played and
sounded right. After that, the only processing was a little bit of editing (fade in at the beginning
of the show) and some equalization to counter the pre-emphasis and roll the bass off slightly
below 100 hz to cut down on the boominess.

note:
You may have noticed that the patch source listed for tracks 106-108 states the recording was
made on a Sony D-5 cassttee instead of a Sony PCM-F1. I think it safe to assume the Oade's
did not record to both. We know the Oade Brothers made the switch to PCM back in October '84,
so unless their PCM machine was for some reason unavailable this night, that is most likely
what they used.

I believe you will find this a very tasty upgrade.
For best results, turn up the volume, clear out a space and get ready to dance!
