This is flac encoded & tagged version of shnid: 15098
Grateful Dead
4-9-88
The Centrum, Worcester, MA
Source: Pre-FM broadcast
Lineage: Master Reel> VHS (PCM)> DAT> CD> SHN
Note: While a "master reel" seems unlikely for 1988 (the VHS is more likely the master tape),
the frequency spectrum suggests that this is indeed a pre-broadcast reel, with content above
15K Hz.
Note from actual taper jackstraw771:
ok,it is past time to explain this one. This is an over-air FM recording, recorded on a Sony boombox
from the top-level of a parking garage across the street from the Centrum and LOS with the nearby
WCUW tower.I recorded this myself,my finger slipped off the REC button and hit pause momentarily.
The voices heard in the cut are mine(oops.) and that of my good friend Jenn V.(What happened?).
What can I say? I was excited by the 'Big Boss Man'! Anyway I'll take the quality comments as a
compliment.I apologize profusely to all for the slip!I find it hard to believe no one else was
recording it.No pre-Fm,no reel to reel, and certainly no control booth!!!Fear not,Jenn gave me hell
about it for about a week afterward. So there you have it.Actually I think it's rather neat that
20 years later I get it back through BT!!!Don't you just love irony? Maybe someone can patch it
with the excellant AUD that has joined it as the only sources(bull there were dozens of tapers in
that place the first two nights, come on youse guys, quit hoarding!!!)Anyway I just wanted to clear
up this rather amusing misunderstanding.Lineage SHOULD be FM broadcast>sony boombox(Maxell XLII 90)
I still have the Masters if someone would like to retransfer contact me at jackstraw771@yahoo.com.

Known issues:
There is announcer banter for the first 20 seconds, and then a nasty little cut of four seconds,
in Big Boss Man. The cut suggests that somebody in the control booth punched the wrong button,
but I haven't heard other FM versions of this show and could not confirm that.
Drums and space are seamless and may be reattached if, for example, you wanted disk 3 to begin
with Terrapin.
Thanks to Skip Jenkins for the disks. Seeded by Peter Braverman (braverman@earthlink.net),
