Janis Joplin with Big Brother and the Holding Company

VENUE : The Matrix, San Francisco, USA

DATE : Unknown dates, 1967

NOTES : I got this a while back through DC++. It claimed to be from the master (given lineage was : MASTER > DAT > CDR > APE). I listened to it and was a little disappointed with the sound. There was a lot of hiss and the recording lacked dynamics. So I decided to proceed to a remaster. I used Soundforge 7 to normalise and EQ the recording in order to remove as much hiss as I could and give the music some "presence". I also fixed one or two slight speed distortions.

So now the complete lineage (as far as I know and if I trust the person who gave this to me in the first place) would be : MASTER > DAT > CDR > APE > WAV > Remaster > FLAC.

I think this came out really nicely. This is a really enjoyable stereo recording, from the soundboard I think, of three sets performed by Big Brother And The Holding Compagny at the Matrix, San Francisco, sometimes during 1967.

This are really great performances, hope you'll enjoy them as much as I did :)
