boombox's notes november 2006:

My first show of this tour and one described by the band's manager as
the best of the year so far. Not the best sounding venue in the world
and a stage more suited to three or four piece bands, as opposed to
JS' seven members, but a good atmosphere.

The band were in fine spirits, but the show was plagued with irritating
technical problems for the guitarists - both PK's and Slick's rigs went
down, and Slick snapped a string. However, this did not prevent them
from delivering a damn fine show. Beginning with a mixture of classics,
the show really picked up from St Charles onwards. Both Marty and DF's
mini-sets were excellent and it was a privilege to hear Blows in its
"near" entirety. Diana was in wonderful voice as usual. Special mention
should go to stand-in drummer Tony Morley, who under Slick & Chris' able
tutelage is expanding his repertoire of Jefferson songs every day.

I received this direct from the taper the night after the show. He has
done nothing to it other than to edit out a little noise during the encore
break to allow it to fit onto two discs. Sound quality is limited by the
sound on the night - Chris' keyboard bass was way too high in the mix and
Slick's distortion effects played havoc as well.

If you get the chance to catch this line-up on tour, I guarantee it will
be one of the best shows you see all year.

Enjoy!!
