Audience capture **previously uncirculated**

sound quality: B- (some distortion, tape wear and slight hiss)
No noise reduction employed at any stage

recording & transfer notes:

1983 Audience: mono Sony recorder using Realistic external condenser mike > master cassette > Realistic graphic EQ > 1st gen TDK SA-X cassette

1983 Soundboard patch (circulating version) for Prudence coda & encore

2008: 1st gen SA-X cassette > SoundBlaster > GoldWave > data disc (to avoid CDR generation). Disc loaded onto online computer > GoldWave again (speed correction) > CDWave > GoldWave for resampling > TLC for flac [2008]. Maybe I should put it through GoldWave again, see what happens.

The soundboard of this show has long circulated, but I prefer this audience capture. Sorry the tape's a bit worn; it's been a heavy favorite for a quarter century. As you'll soon hear, Jerry was turned up and turned on this evening -- a show burned into my memory with the help of this recording. The soundboard *is* cleaner, and possibly better mixed, but this is how it really sounded. I intended to matrix the two together, figuring that would be the best of both worlds, but Joe Jupille convinced me to share the pure AUD capture. There is no alteration or assistance performed here, just the source recording straight up.

For completion's sake, I include the SBD conclusion to "Prudence" ... my tape runs out at the end of Jerry's heavenly solo, fortunately not too soon -- he was just about to wrap it up anyway. Still, it's nice to hear how it ends. After that, it just seems mean not to include the SBD encore, so it's here as well.

*Extra special thanks to the members of the Jerry Garcia Band, for dishing up one of the most memorable shows of my life (and I have the tape to prove it!).
