John Hiatt & the North Mississippi Allstars
Waterfront Blues Festival
Portland, OR.
July 1, 2006

Recorded from KBOO FM, which is a local all volunteer community radio station. The station doesn't have a lot of power to broadcast and I feel lucky to be in the area which it reaches. Consequently there are some drops, reception and other various problems like cutting in for interviews and such. Mostly all are a good listen. I have tried to "cleanup" some of the drops in sound and cuts. There is nothing I can do to the reception problems. Most only last a few seconds.

Enjoy, twofthrs

He’s a musician’s musician. John Hiatt’s deft songwriting has left an indelible mark on the American musical landscape, including tunes written for Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, B.B. King, the Neville Brothers, his own collaborations with Ry Cooder, and even Three Dog Night and Ronnie Milsap. Hiatt cuts an inventive and sardonic swath across popular music, with his creative songwriting, gruff vocals, strong hooks and poignant themes.

In ‘05 Hiatt recorded “Master of Disaster” with legendary musician and producer Jim Dickinson. Dickinson enlisted the aid of his young sons, Luther and Cody – devotees and labelmates of RL Burnside, Jr. Kimbrough, Otha Turner, among others, and the driving force behind the powerful North Mississippi All-Stars. The result is a boisterous young-guns-meet-the-old-lion group of Southern-fried fun and big musical chops.
