Joni Mitchell - Amnesty 1986 & Wired 1988

Gathering together some various Joni tracks, from a couple of old torrents.

Tracks 1-4: Amnesty International Concert 1986-06-15

From the recently-torrented Amnesty concert (a larger torrent with many other Amnesty artists is still active as I write this--I torrent these files for those here for those who don't want to download that GB-plus beast). This was a weird show for Joni, sort of a last-minute effort, with a band pieced together from Sting's and Peter Gabriel's, as Joni explains on the included tracks. Interesting in a few aspects: first, U2, the "headlining act" and easily the biggest rock band in 1986, is due next, and the crowd chants for them at the beginning of Joni's short set, and someone apparently throws something up on the stage during her first song (an outstanding reading of "The Three Great Stimulants"), prompting Joni to ask people to "quit pitching shit up here." Also interesting are the two "modern-era" songs, the aforementioned "Stimulants" as well as Joni's anti-yuppie anthem "Number One" both of which sound to my ears a lot better here than on the official studio LPs. A nice "Hejira" (what else) rounds it out.

LINEAGE: master tape (Maxell UDXL-II, NR-off) > CDWave > wav > flac6

1 - The Three Great Stimulants
2 - "I'm Not That Bad, Dig?"
3 - Number One
4 - Hejira

Tracks 5-7: Acoustic, from BBC 4 show "Wired," in 1988.

Includes the very first public performance of "Night Ride Home," an interview, and a nice, just-Joni-and-guitar performance of "Number One." Excellent sound, with a bit of buzzing (not sure if this is from the master tape or the original broadcast), but generally sounds very nice. Torrented last year, by some cool person--let me know if it's you and I'll give proper credit).

LINEAGE: Mono terrestrial broadcast by Channel 4 (UK) > Hi-Fi VHS (Phillips) > Pioneer PDR-509 CD recorder, EAC, Soundforge, Flac level 8 encoding.

Joni Mitchell - Wired, 2 tracks solo acoustic + interview.
5 - Night Ride Home
6 - Interview
7 - Number One

Enjoy!
