Leroy Bell
Waterfront Blues Festival
Portland, OR.
July 4, 2006
Recorded from KBOO FM, which is a local all volunteer community radio station. The station doesn't have a lot of power to broadcast and I feel lucky to be in the area which it reaches. Consequently there are some drops, reception and other various problems like cutting in for interviews and such. Mostly all are a good listen. I have tried to "cleanup" some of the drops in sound and cuts. There is nothing I can do to the reception problems. Most only last a few seconds.
Enjoy, twofthrs
Just a guess at this set list since I'm not familiar with this artist.

As half of the songwriting duo, Bell & James, Leroy Bell penned hits for a huge range of pop and soul figures, including Elton John, Rita Marley, Johnny Mathis, The Temptations, The Spinners, The O’Jays, Teddy Pendergrass and Lou Rawls, to mention but a few. The duo also released albums of its own, and scored a Top-20 hit in 1979 with “Livin’ It Up (Friday Night)."
After an eight-year hiatus from performing, the Seattle singer-songwriter returned to the stage last year under his full name, Leroy Martez Bell. He released Spending Time, a six-song EP of 'acoustic soul' which got picked up by Hear Music and distributed in Starbucks coffee shops worldwide, and received heavy radio play in Seattle, Philadelphia and San Francisco. Bell has since sold out Seattle's trendy Triple Door venue more times than any other artist, and has opened for Keb Mo, Taj Mahal, LeAnn Rimes, The Temptations, Roberta Flack, Al Green, Mavis Staples, B.B. King, Leon Russell, Patti Larkin, Sergio Mendes, Colin Hay, and Kenny Loggins in major West Coast venues.
