Notes: A crowd-pleasing set from the Q, in spite of technical difficulties. There was so much trouble with Joey's mic, Terry says "turn up the vocal" right in the middle of "Captain Lou". In addition to the band's problems, your humble taper also had to contend with a maraca-playing stooge in the audience, quite audible on the recording. Terry's mention of "wearing a t-shirt at the mall" during "Paris" is a reference to a local news story that eventually went national: a guy was hassled by security at the Crossgates Mall for wearing a "Give Peace A Chance" t-shirt he bought right there at the mall. Mall management, faced with a public relations disaster, pinned it all on the poor security guard, who was obviously following orders from management. Nice.

On a personal note, this night marked this correspondent's first (and as of this writing, only) recording bust. NRBQ was the opening act for headliner Eric Burdon, who delivered a killer performace that night. All was well until about 20 minutes from the end of the concert, when the enforcement goons descended. I didn't have a blank disc ready to hand, or I might have been able to fake them out and keep at least a partial recording. And another taper I knew there also got busted. Ironic, since it was a free concert. If you try to tape Eric Burdon, keep your eyes peeled!
