As expected, getting in line to enter the show early payed off. I was right after the "first 100" and was able to get a spot about 20'-30' from stage. I started setting up right as I got in, but got called back by someone from the production crew. By that time most of the space in front of the soundboard had already been claimed either by families or other tapers. I was able to get set up in a spot even with the soundboard and a little right of center. The wind was pretty crazy throughout the entire show, and was impressed by how well the windscreens did. There are some audible spots in some places, but overall they were great. The wind swirled the highs quite a bit. I wasn't able to run my Nak300s on the first night. I thought the battery was dead in one of the mics, and I hadn't brought an extra battery to the show with me for some reason. It turned out, when I got back to the hotel, that there wasn't a battery in the mic at all.
This whole week was one of the best times I have ever had. The resort staff was amazing, and the service was exceptional. All I had to do was show up, whether it was for an adventure off site or for dinner, or even to sit at the beach or pool. Everything was taken care of and it was the most fun I have ever had during a run of shows. If you have not gone, do whatever you need to in order to make one of these trips. I wish I had spoken with someone who went last year to get some ideas on the dos and don'ts, there are a few things I would change up as far as gear and scheduling. If you have any questions, I would be happy to help out anyway I can.
