The Smiths
Beacon Theater, New York City NY
18 Jun 1985
In 1993 a single disc bootleg CD came out, "I Suffer" (Rock Calendar Records RC 2116), filled to the rim with 18 tracks from an audience recording of this concert, the second of two nights at the Beacon Theater in New York City. In the fall of 2001 dgk posted shn-files made directly from his master cassette recording to one of Usenet's lossless bootlegs newsgroups. Because this master recording doesn't seem to be circulating very widely, I'm now offering it here.
I didn't keep the original info-file, but I still have the scan of the ticket stub.
The sound editing referred to in the lineage info below concerns a drop-out around the 7 minute mark in Barbarism Begins At Home, which I have fixed in order to ensure a smooth listening experience for all you poetic librarians.
lineage: dgk's master AUD recording -> shn -> wav -> normalization in Cool Edit -> CD-R -> EAC -> wav -> editing with Adobe Auditiion -> FLAC (level 8/verify/align on sector boundaries) -> EZT/DIME -> you
I'd rate this audience recording a solid 8/10!
