TRANSFER/EDITING NOTES:
This is my attempt at remastering the '71 New Orleans Who show. I've had a copy of this recording for years but only recently obtained a loseless version. It's a good find for Who fans, but otherwise it's only mediocre. The performance is great but the sound is muddy and dull. Like it was mentioned in the source torrent text below, there are some serious cuts, flaws and frequency problems in this source. To begin with, a lot of the higher frequencies are inaudible or have no response. I attempted to salvage what I could from the recording and clean up the overall sound to at least serve the performance well enough to not stop listening because of the sound quality. A lot of times the best performances are the ones to get, even in below average sound quality. Anyways, on to the edits:
Virtually every track had very different frequency responses. Therefore, each track has to be mastered using different values. This goes for each channel on each track as well.
A fairly large amount of Eq'ing has been done here. The recording was one of the most unbalanced in frequency response I've ever seen. Luckily, the source recording must've been fairly good. Many of the higher frequencies were before non-existent. Now most of them up to 10-12k register on an equalizer.
In many cases, depending on the channel balance and amp level, amplification and channel mixing has been used to get a more well rounded out and clearer sound where possible.
I've also done some cutting, pasting and fading in and out in sections where necessary.
No form of noise reduction has been used on this recording. This was a close call. Because a lot of the frequencies of the original recording were probably lost through many generations of tape. I attempted to reverse the process and get some of these frequencies back. Unfortunately, going back isn't as easy as going forward and you get a good amount of hiss in the process. I made several attempts to reduce the noise level while not sacrifing the sound of the recording. Ultimately, I decided against it. You can always turn down the high end a bit and lose some hiss. You can't do anything to reverse the effects of noise reduction.
To conclude, this is a great artifact of a great live era for The Who that is short on good recordings. Plus, this new version I think should open the show up for more people. Enjoy this remastering attempt and the modified and enhanced artwork!

The recording is incomplete and discontinuous (ie. much of the dialogue between songs is cut). It is missing virtually all frequencies >10kHz, and is somewhat hissy. However, it is quite clear with no distortion.
Length: 77.41
01 Baba OÕRiley (5.42)
02 Bargain (6.56)
03 Behind Blue Eyes (6.13)
04 WonÕt Get Fooled Again (8.37)

06 Magic Bus (cuts) (6.39)
07 Overture (6.32)
08 Amazing Journey (incomplete) (2.59)
09 Sparks (4.37)
10 Pinball Wizard (4.16)
11 See Me Feel Me (6.17)
12 My Generation (11.18)
Details (from http://www.geocities.com/cgwhitman2/who/who.html): A surprise soundboard recording, given that the only show the band reportedly taped on this tour was the second San Francisco date. The first four songs are missing, but it's definitely worth having for the sound quality and the great performance. 'Bargain' has evolved into a hard-edged piece, following the original arrangement less than earlier versions and with much more improvisation at the end. Townshend later throws in some interesting guitar figures during another excellent 'Won't Get Fooled Again', and Moon's drum break after the keyboard solo is particularly good here. The Tommy section includes a very nice guitar passage as a bridge between 'Overture' and 'Amazing Journey'; later they have to stop before 'See Me, Feel Me' because according to Townshend, it "doesn't work out of tuneÑwe've tried it many a time". After Entwistle seems to forget where to start the 'My Generation' solo, this unusual version doesn't move into 'Naked Eye'; a longer jam instead includes some different riffs and chord patterns before reaching a heavy end-of-show climax. Highly recommended.
Notes:
This gig was posted on EZT last year by woodstockfan during his Who torrent frenzy. However, the last couple of tracks had a lot diginoise and artifact. Some other kind person quickly posted a replacement for "My Generation", but unfortunately this was incomplete by about 3 mins.
I have been trying to trade for a complete version ever since. After receiving a series of incomplete and lossy versions, I finally got hold of a good copy. I believe this is a rip from "Gutterpunks in the Warehouse". The tracking, waveform, spectral and frequency analyses of my files are virtually identical to woodstockfan's post. ... but no artifacts.
