Tut Taylor Archive Reel #71 contains two portions-1) Tut and an unidentified guitarist performing a number of

Tut's Dobro instrumentals, many of which remain unissued (and unidentifiable), and 2) Tut noodling around on

the mandolin with only a few discernable tunes emerging. The guitarist playing with Tut on tracks 1-8 is a

fine cross-picker in the Clarence White tradition. The locations and dates of these recordings are unknown,

although are probably circa late-1960's or early-1970's.

The tape is a 7.5 inch per second mono recording. The reel was played

on a modified Revox A77 reel-to-reel machine with a Reutelhuber custom

designed and built tape head preamplifier incorporating 2003 era technology

and components including all metal film resistors, polypropelene coupling

capacitors, and low ESR electrolytic supply bypass capacitors. The

resulting analog signal was digitized by a Mytek Digital 8X96 analog to

digital converter using Steinberg Nuendo as the recording software and

saved as a 24 bit 48 kHz wave file.

Post processing and was done with Nuendo using the following Waves

Plugins: X-Hum, Q10, LinEQ Lowband, S1 Shuffler and L3. The file was

dithered down to a 16 bit/44.1kHz wave file.

The box is labeled 'Tut Master' and '15IPS #1 Tut'.

Minor edits, level normalization, fades, tracking, and flac encoding by David

Helm using CoolEdit Pro 2.1, EAC Wave Editor, and Flac Frontend.
