As opener to percussion guitar wizard songwriter Jon Gomm, this was an interesting choice of act. After doing some research after the gig, it appears frontman Justin Beynon used to be lead guitarist in The Broken Vinyl Club and the band's fb page lists their infuences as Crosby, Stills & Nash, Fleet Foxes, Ryan Adams, The Beatles, Jellyfish, Tom Petty and Neil Young. Personally, I heard elements of the Jayhawks in several songs too - geographically a long way from the band's home town of Aberdare! This line-up is still bedding in, but I'd definitely see them again.

The mic gain was way too high when the band hit the stage, but the PA guy got things under control quickly. Unfortunately a high ceiling and almost empty hall means the recording is a bit boomy despite my close proximity to the stack. That said, if the recording brings more people to their gigs or gets more album sales, it will have been worth it.
