I had tickets to see this show in Lima back in 2023, but I unfortunately
came down with a bad case of covid and had to forfeit my ticket and miss
the show. Since then, I've tried to make other dates happen (Cincinnati
at the Taft being one), but nothing has worked out. When Columbus was
announced, I did not buy a ticket and decided to play the wait-til-the
day-of-game. Well, it paid off. I found a seat in the rear balcony for
$9.65 after taxes and fees. ($56 off!) When I got to Kemba, I looked
at the chart and there were 6 or 7 unsold seats in row D directly in
front of the right stack. So I sat there, and thankfully nobody came.
Honestly, the show was only 3/4 sold, or so. So there were empties
throughout the venue. Like most shows nowadays, I had a real annoying
couple behind me to my right who were talking throughout the entire
performance and clearly only knew Jim's biggest hits, cuz then they
decided to sing. It was so bad, I left quite depressed that the tape
was ruined. Thank god for these Sound Pro mics, because their talking
(and singing) is very faint, so much so, you cant really even hear it
during the music. I did look back at them and give them a few glares,
but those never work. Walking out, I noticed they spilled their drinks
all over the floor in their aisle. F'n idiots. Anyway, the concert was
incredible! I had never seen A.J. before and his material (which I was
unfamiliar with) sounded great next to his dad's. 17 of the 28 tracks
were Jim songs, the rest were A.J.'s with a few covers to balance it
out. A.J. told some great stories, as well, which is why some track
lengths are longer than others. I never thought I would say this, but
I'm very happy with the recording (its nice up front sounding) and RX7
was used to remove unnecessary screams, yelps and claps. The quieter
songs and speaking sections were amplified by 2-3 db's when needed.
