The songs are bonus tracks on "ABWH Rehearsals #2" from San Diego 1989-09-02 & 1989-09-03. There are 2 very similar versions of it:

1) Dime torrent by Gromek on 2007-02-09. Lineage: CD-R>EAC>WAVE>TLH>FLAC 6
2) Forgotten Yesterdays download: http://forgotten-yesterdays.com/downloads.asp?ftype=1&qsectionid=13&qdownloadid=895

This torrent uses the Gromek version. "Beelzebub" is 3:42 long vs. 3:44 for the Forgotten Yesterdays download. They sound the same to me. The versions of "Go Between" are identical (same FFPs).

As far as the original source used by those 2 versions, I believe it was an FM broadcast.

"I've just found a listing for an FM broadcast of Beelzebub by Bruford with the Amsterdam Percussion Assembly in Amsterdam, February 1985."

I hear minor hiss and a swooshing sound sometimes heard in FM recordings.

I have loved the album "Go Between" by The New Percussion Group Of Amsterdam for a long time. Bruford only plays on the title track, but the entire album is really wonderful. I don't know if these tracks were the only ones broadcast or not. I would sure love to hear the entire show if there is more!

Assigning the proper Dime category for this torrent was extremely difficult. I suspect the most accurate category would be (modern) classical, but there are some jazz elements as well. I decided on Progressive Rock because I felt that more Bruford fans would see it this way.

YouTube also has copies of the "Go Between" track. They have better sound than this torrent, but they are lossy and have a Bruford voiceover at the beginning of the song.

NOTE: even though some of the YouTube text says things like "Available on CD (1987) at..." the version on YouTube and this torrent is NOT the same that is available commercially.

The Dutch for the 'New Percussion Group of Amsterdam' is Nieuwe Slagwerkgroep Amsterdam, hence 'NSA'. In the composer's words: �In Go Between the mallet players build a musical framework with a repetitive structure. The acoustic drums and percussion are completely integrated within the system, but come forward to take over the leading role several times. The character of the composition shifts whimsically between rock and art music.�

The rehearsals for, and concert of, this music took place at the fabulous Amsterdam Concertgebouw concert hall. It's the same place that used to run midnight rock concerts in the 1970s, the air so thick with weed you could cut it with a knife. King Crimson played and recorded one of those shows. The music was released as the Night Watch: Live at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw November 23rd 1973; appropriately enough - the title being that of the 1642 painting by the Dutch artist Rembrandt van Rijn.
