Wow!

This band is seriously bringing it. To borrow from Buddy Guy:
So funky you can smell it.

To me this show is leaps and bounds ahead of the earlier ones.
The sound and musical concept has gelled. Daniel also seems to have
absorbed some guitar style from a fellow Canadian he's worked with
(though I've always loved Dan Lan's playing there's an unmistakable
tone flowing here, which fits quite well).

Capacity was 200 very lucky folk. This band should be much bigger.

I do hope more of these shows will be captured (though it is not easy
the way the show is run). There was considerable improv so they should
be pretty different night to night. This is a very good representation.

RECORDING NOTES:

A very accurate recording that confirms what my ears were telling me
there: They really, really need a better soundman. There are enough
effects on her vocals they're probably still reverberating in the room
today, not to mention the fairly regular squeals from that mic, and an
overall lack of definition. Don't let that discourage you though. At
least there's no echo from the hall. I just expected better. So it is
sort of an EX- of a VG+ mix. Samples below.
