Notes: The concert was broken into two sets. Both sets were a mixture of
live playing, and video images of Keith Emerson and Greg Lake.
Sometimes, the music was both live and with video images combined.
After 'Fanfare For The Common Man,' I asked my son what he thought
of Keith Emerson. He said "Keith Emerson was completely unhinged."
What a great compliment!
This was the first recording in 15 years, and the first recording
with a new, smaller deck. The event wasn't without some drama.
The settings on the new deck started automatically with +22db
gain. That was the floor, and everything went higher from there.
I couldn't figure out how to set a lower gain floor. +22db gain
was VERY hot. However, the recording was made in 32-bit floating
point, not limited by integer math. So as long as I didn't
overdrive the preamps, then the recording would be fine. Voila,
it was a success; preamps not overdriven, and the recording was
just fine. I have since figured out how to lower the +22db gain
setting (it was kind of hidden behind other settings).
