This includes a combination of three sources to complement Michael's seed (DIME torrent #88419) of

Charles Lloyd Quartet, Paris 11 June 1967

There are two folders of Source BI+BII and Source C respectively, described in the info file.
At the time I mentioned there's other material out claimed to be Paris June 11, 1967.

What you find here is the complete alternate material. Together the sources possibly contains two more or less complete concerts, of Paris at June the 11, and at Montreux June 18th.

Which track belongs where is very unclear it seems. But anyway you have it all, with this and Michael's seed, called Source A in the info file.

What you have here is

guyberger wrote wayback then:
a spectacular gig, better than almost anything else I've heard by this group. They play a lot more outside than on some of the official recordings. Charles's playing with this band was occasionally erratic but he's really strong and upfront here.

The setlist I've put together:

1. A Different Journey (Charles Lloyd) [Appears on the Chico Hamilton album of the same title]
2. One for Joan aka Piercing the Veil (Charles Lloyd) [Appears on one or two CH albums, maybe one of Charles's albums from the 60s, and also 1994's "All My Relations"]
3. Karma (not sure about this one?) / Tribal Dance [TD has a really intense solo by Keith.]

1. ??? [I think it's just a brief collective improvisation]
2. Tagore [an exotic sounding bossa nova with Keith strumming the keys]
3. How Can I Tell You / unknown (standard?) [Anybody recognize the second tune? The first shows up on a 60s CH album as well as Charles's album "Canto"]
4. Days and Nights of Waiting (Keith Jarrett)

Johan wrote then:
Sonic to me suggests possibly TV broadcast, not radio broadcast.

Note that the Italian bootleg In Concert - Parigi 1967 [Jazz Collection JCD03 1994] has stuff not included here. The JCD03 has two tracks identical to two of the four tracks from Montreux June 18, 1967 on the Florest Flower bootleg.

OK - this raises many questions.

On Michaelmee (2006):
---------------------
First: The seed A is evidently put together from many different broadcasts. I hear the voice of Xavier P - and other announcers - as rec'd at different times.

NOTE: At the end of the first segment XP states this is rec'd at

Maison l'ORTF (ORTF was the predecessor of Radio France).

A bit later, but on another fragment, he states the date June 11, 1967, as does another announcer later (my French lets me barely catch this, and not much more). So this stuff is not necessarily from the same concert. Many questions, few definite answers.

Call this Source A.

On Priv. comm (2003) and STG (2002?)
---------------------------------
There are three diff. sources for alternative tracks:

* Sources BI & BII: two rare Italian (?) bootlegs - Parigi 1967 (BI: three trs) and Forest Flower (BII: this latter is a mix from several concerts. Four trs of BII are descr'd as Montreux June 18).
Two trs of these are identical btw the two boots - at least on the copies some kind soul shared with me a long time ago (see below).

* Source C: an STG seed a long time ago, desc. as Paris, 6/11/67 wiht unknown lineage but said to be originating with an FM brdcst. 7 trs.

Comparative analysis: Sources BI & BII
--------------------------------------
Sonically the two boots BI & BII are a bit different - BI seems to be from an LW RB - while the FF one varies. Both indicate an intimate locality, it MAY be the same, but need not be.

However, DNWaiting and Lady G are the same performances (the BII - Forest Flower - Lady Gabor has about 25 sec of Keith's solo edited out):

- BI:DNW = BII:DNW
- BI:LG = BII:LG

The total of five different tracks include a remarkable "out" version of Sweet Georgia Bright (BI)

BUT:
* Lady Gabor on A - tr 12 - is the same as Lady Gabor of the Parigi boot BI. Or,

- A:LG = BI:LG, and thus = BII:LG

OTH:
* The A:DNW and BI:DNW are different!

- A:DNW n.e. BI:DNW (and thus by transitivity A:DNW n.e. BII:DNW)

Comparative analysis: Source C
------------------------------
That leaves us with the STG seed:

* C: Love Ship is different from the same on the FF boot - BII: Love Ship

- C:LShip n.e. BII:LShip

* C: DNW is the same as the recent seed A: DNW

- C:DNW = A:DNW

-----------------------------------
Conclusions & future research needs
-----------------------------------

So we have

15 different tracks:

A2 Island Blues 1:58 INC
A7 Sweet Georgia Bright 25:22
A9 Twin Pearls 8:17 NOTE: KJ ss

BI1. Days and night of waiting 6:40
BI2. Lady Gabor 12:25 ~= A12
BI3. Sweet Georgia Bright 32:20
BII4. Love Ship 9:31
BII5. Forest Flower 13:20 INC

C1. A Different Journey 10:01
C2. One for Joan aka Piercing the Veil 16:06
C3. Love Ship/Tribal Dance 17:41
C4. ??? [collective impro?] INC 1:57
C5. Tagore 13:09
C6. How Can I Tell You / unknown (standard?) 20:54
C7. Days and Nights of Waiting (Keith Jarrett) 6:36 ~=A4

At least two dates:
* June 11 & 18, 1967 - Any missing dates?

At least two venues/cities
* Paris & Montreux, missing cities/venues?

Several source tapes,
*maybe A was a kind of "residual" Charles Lloyd tape?

MANY questions. - and LOTS of missing info
------------------------------------------

However, NOTE that
* every track appear just once or twice, never thrice (:-) )
- SGB 2
- DNW 2
- LShip 2
- all other tracks 1

-> TWO, not THREE concerts?
