NOTES:

This was something very special indeed! Daniel Lanois with Brian Blade, Jim Wilson and special Norwegian guest musician Stein Torleif Bjella performed with such a heart.

Instead of having a support act in Stein Torleif Bjella from Norway, the rest of the band with Daniel Lanois and the folks backed up Stein for the first 3 songs of the evening, which made this concert even more special.

Stein and the band really played with lots of emotions and heart and you could really feel that special bond that some musicians have when they get together and play.

I was lucky in that perspective that I got all my favorite songs this evening. I loved all songs, but hearing "Where Will I Be", "Falling At Your Feet", The Maker" and the 9 minutes long version of "Ring The Alarm" was something out of this world and truly special!

Both Brian Blade and Jim Wilson connected so good on all levels with Daniel and Stein. I should also mention that Martha sang along on the song "The Maker". Daniel referred to her as "the boss".

I should really encourage you to catch Lanois and the band if you are in Norway for the next couple of concerts. They will take you on a lovely and beautiful journey that will leave you speechless for sure!

The audience in Stockholm was very much into the concert and Lanois seemed to feel that and was in a very good mood indeed.

Before the concert started and approx. 30 minutes before stage time, Daniel, came out on stage to do some additional soundcheck together with his roadie. He does not seem to have any of this rock star behaviour, but he gladly soundcheck even in front of the crowd, which is a very cool thing indeed.

I also talked to one of the mainstream journalists from Stockholm and she asked me: "Why do you feel the need to document every concert"? I just replied that one can not fully trust the mainstream media coverage :-)

One of Sweden´s biggest newspapers, DN (Dagens Nyheter - News of Today) gave the concert a mixed review, even partly complaining about the length of the concert (Just above 2 hours!). Me on the other hand was very happy and pleased that we got such a long and fantastic concert!

For me it is always a good sign when a band extend their tunes and add some jamming parts to the songs when they play live. I would never complain about a band "playing for too long". We got great value for the entrance money and the sold out venue with the 600 capacity in the heart of Stockholm enjoyed every moment of it!
