Received this as part of an early 1980’s tape trade with the famous/infamous Sam Romanghi.
For those of you who may not be aware, Sam was an Arizona based tape trader/seller who heavily advertised in multiple publications back in the late ‘70’s and early 80’s (I still have one of his catalogs).
He must have been well connected with many people high up in the trading chain as he had quite a lot of interesting material available for sale.
A lot of it was mis-dated and bogus as quality control was apparently not his thing but you could still find a nugget through him every once in a while.
He wound up getting busted by the Feds after Stevie Nicks found out he was selling copies of her shows on cassette.
Recordings from this show are sometimes dated as being from the 4th of March 1972 but 1972-02-29 is the correct performance date.
To be honest, I was not expecting much when I dug this tape out of my archives but I was pleasantly surprised once I had done an initial assessment as it sounded a lot better than I remembered it to be.
Unfortunately we seem to be missing the beginning of the show as the tape starts with “Strange Kind of Woman” already in progress (I believe all copies of this show suffer from this flaw).
This show was part of a quick run of Scandinavian shows before returning to the UK briefly for a couple of shows including a “Sound of the 70’s” BBC radio broadcast appearance.
Then back to the USA for the remainder of March.
PLEASE ENJOY THE MUSIC, WHILE YOU STILL CAN, BEFORE YOU'RE DEAD! AND WE'RE ALL DYING IN HERE, BUT YOU'RE NOT DEAD YET, BUT YOU WILL BE SOON AND AND WHAT GOOD WILL YOUR RECORDINGS BE THEN WHEN YOU'RE DEAD AND GONE AND YOU'RE NO LONGER HERE TO ENJOY THEM ANYMORE WITH ANYONE ELSE, SO LET'S NOT DIE WITHOUT SHARING OUR RECORDINGS...
