"Stratcat58" notes;
This is an incomplete recording of Deep Purple’s 1973-05-30 Felt Forum NYC appearance from the last of their 3 nights there (May 26th, 27th, and 30th).
Rory Gallagher was the opener for all 3 Felt Forum shows.
I acquired this as part of a tape trade with Deep Purple collector Steve Wunrow many years ago.
This recording required quite a bit of work to get the pitch/speed in line as it progressively got faster from start to finish.
Perhaps not perfect but a huge improvement over what it was.
Typical set list of the period with Ian Paice’s drum solo now folded into “Lazy” rather than being included as part of a standalone version of “The Mule” as they had been doing the previous year.
Unfortunately, "Space Truckin" is joined in progress and the recording cuts off during Jon Lord’s solo during the “Rondo” section so we miss out on most of Ritchie Blackmore’s contributions to this song.
No encores were captured although it is unknown if any were played since they were not a “given” at this point.
Typical encores around this time would have been “Lucille” and/or “Black Night”.
