The fever is still burning! Rock legends DEEP PURPLE return to the sacred ground with their timeless rock anthems!
This release captures the highlight of Deep Purple's 2026 Japan tour, their performance at the Nippon Budokan, in ultra-high-quality audience recording. Recorded in the Budokan's acoustic sweet spot, the XAVEL label's original high-quality master has been meticulously digitally remastered to produce an astonishingly high-quality sound! This is a memorable item commemorating their visit to Japan, allowing you to fully appreciate the professionalism of their work throughout.
This must-listen title delivers the entirety of the "MAD IN JAPAN TOUR," the band's first tour in Japan in three years, in the highest sound quality.
Ian Gillan's vocals defy his age and even suggest a new frontier; Ian Paice's drums are one of a kind; Roger Glover's bass is seasoned and polished; Don Airey's keyboards provide the backbone of the band's sound with their ever-changing versatility; and Simon McBride's sharp guitar playing has made him a complete fixture in the band.
This is a masterful recording that captures the entirety of the band's sound with an overwhelming separation, balance, and clarity that makes it hard to believe it's an audience recording. It's completely free of the annoying audience noise (off-key singing, strange noises, applause, etc.) that is the biggest drawback of audience recordings, so you can enjoy the entire album without any stress. This is truly a definitive title that showcases the brilliance of the XAVEL label, which has produced numerous masterpieces from Deep Purple's Japanese tours.
Furthermore, this set includes a DVD featuring a complete recording of the entire Budokan concert with exceptionally stable original audience shots. The camera work captures the entire stage from the first-floor seats in the front stands with excellent stability and a great view, and the audio uses the same superb sound source as the CD, resulting in extremely high-quality content. This is a truly worthwhile and definitive video recording of Live in Japan 2026.

Deep Purple — Mad In Budokan, Tokyo, Japan — 2026 (Audience Recording) [LOSSLESS]
Personal note: out of everything I've archived from the current touring cycle, this is the best audience recording I've come across. The taper nailed it.
Hi all,
Sharing this excellent audience recording from the 2026 Japan tour, Budokan, Tokyo.
A word on the lossless claim — because it matters.
I ran a full spectral analysis before posting. This is genuine lossless, not a re-encoded MP3 dressed up as WAV. Here's what the numbers show:
BandEnergy12–16 kHzstrong and natural ?16–18 kHzpresent, progressive roll-off ?18–20 kHzstill present ?20–22 kHzweak but present ?
No hard cutoff at 16 kHz (which would betray a 128kbps source), no wall at 19–20 kHz (256kbps). The roll-off above 16 kHz is smooth and organic — exactly the signature of a true wide-band capture. Open it in Spek or Audacity and you'll see it yourself immediately.
How was it probably recorded?
The spectral profile is consistent with a serious taper setup:
High-quality portable recorder — Sony PCM-A10, Tascam DR-40X, Zoom H5/H6 class or equivalent
Discreet microphones — likely small capsule cardioids or omnis (DPA 4061, Naiant type) hidden in the venue
Recorded directly in PCM 16/44.1 or 24/48, then downsampled to 16/44.1 for distribution
The absence of any compression artifacts combined with the sound quality confirms a serious taper with serious gear. Budokan also helps — the hall is well known for its favorable acoustics and Japanese tapers know exactly how to work it.
Format: WAV / PCM 16-bit / 44100 Hz / Stereo / 1411 kbps
Runtime: 1h 44m 52s (2 discs)
