This was part of the Waterville Valley Bridge Music Festival, which began in 1989 with 15 jazz and classical music concerts over 6 weekends at the Waterville Valley Resort, held at a 2,500 seat amphitheater that had been converted from an ice hockey rink. The next year, in late July, the organizer cancelled all of the remaining performances for that summer due to low ticket sales and lack of funding. A few weeks later, Doc Watson was scheduled to appear as a make up for some of the cancelled performances, as the attached newspaper clipping explains.

This is an outstanding recording, as the lineage suggests. There is a bit of tape hiss as you might expect, but it vanishes when the music is playing. No flaws noted (tape flip before Alberta; no music lost).

Enjoy!
