George Thorogood is someone I have wanted to see for quite some time, but it never lined up for one reason or another. 3 shows came to town the weekend he appeared here in 2020. (I had to choose between Thorogood, Dweezil Zappa, and Opeth that time. Opeth won.) I thought I had a ticket coming the next year but he was an opening act and I was more interested in seeing an entire show from him. I forget about 2022, but my plan to see and tape him in Sioux City in 2023 didn't happen because I had tire trouble (Sioux City is about 300 miles out and there is never a good time for a flat tire on the side of the highway). I was considering a drive to see him this year, but once this was announced I knew I would be going and wouldn't have to drive. I am glad this was the case because while I still enjoy his music and respect his abilities, I wasn't necessarily impressed with the show. It wasn't bad, but didn't seem exceptional. Maybe I caught an off night for the band. I also thought this was something of an odd place for him to appear at in town, as I don't think Yardley Hall sees a lot of (or any) concert traffic. I had earplugs in so I didn't have a good read on it, but I did go with a friend who suggested that the mix wasn't so hot. I ran a light HPF on this and thought about more EQing, but I didn't want to remove so much low end that this would be a cold recording and that seemed to be where it headed. If you believe you can improve on my work, please do so and please share the results. I just ask you keep it in 24/44.1 format (making a 16/44.1 version is fine with me too as long as both sets are available). The internal mics aren't the best on the Tascam DR-05, but I think that some software can coax out decent to exceptional recordings (depending on where you sit in a room).
