Heart's first tour back since the fall of 2019, which was also the last time I saw
the band live! Outside of Ann and Nancy, this is a completely different band behind
them. The majority of the lineup is Ann's solo Tripsitter, while Nancy brought one
of her guitar players from her solo band over. Sadly, that means no Craig Bartock,
which was a bummer because I loved his playing. The band still did a great job, it
was just different. The focus is mainly on Ann and Nancy, anyway. I was shocked to
see they did not play "Even It Up" (as Ann was doing it on her last solo tour), and
they even dropped their new song, "Roll The Dice", which they had premiered last
December on the west coast. Instead, we got some unnecessary covers and 2 solo cuts
that failed to strengthen the set. Minor complaints aside, the band and the sisters
sounded tremendous playing together and it was great seeing them on stage again.
On the recording itself, I want to point a few things out. I had a real obnoxious
bitch who was roughly 7 seats down from me to my right who decided to come over and
invade my space when she saw a couple empties next to me. Maybe for a better view?
She danced (which was fine), screamed, yelped, talked, hollered, and generally just
made a complete ass out of herself to the entire section. The more she drank the
worse she got. By the end of "Going To California", I had more than enough of it.
I left 221 and went to 222 and found an empty seat far down row C. She was still
audible (somewhat) during Nancy's speech before "4 Edward", but for the most part
its much better. I put iZotope RX7 to work and carefully removed as much of her as
I could without driving myself mental. It is now a far better listen. Thank god.
I have taped Heart 5 times total and 4 of them I have had this happen with loud
drunks. Must be their fanbase. No offense, of course! Thanks for the ticket, Brian!

ROYAL FLUSH TOUR
