note
Not my best master but a decent recording nonetheless.
I don’t remember much of the evening except that it was a very good ‘atmospheric’ show. Barely knowing Garbarek at all, I was there for Mari Boine,
whose Real World Records debut stayed on my turntable for months.
I had no clue about song names (*) or lenghts, so there were a
few breaks for side changes. This have been smoothed out once with
a quick fade out/fade in, and the second time with a much ‘harsher’
edit that nonetheless seems to fit reasonably well. No filter,
noise reduction or eq was used in the edits. I only worked a bit
on the applause sections by applying a lower gain envelope so that
they wouldn’ burst my speakers and removed 3 or 4 of the more evident
clicks and bumps from the handling of the microphone.
Some noise crept into the the lower volume and intensity sections,
as it always happens. A few people around me speaking and making comments
every now and then, but nothing really ferocious…
