Jazz Sabbath is a UK-based jazz trio that performs new jazz arrangements of Black Sabbath songs. The band presents itself as a jazz trio formed in 1968—claiming to be the original composers of the tracks later made famous by Black Sabbath.
Led by pianist Adam Wakeman (who has played with Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne since 2004), Jazz Sabbath blurs the lines between jazz and the songs that defined heavy metal, drawing on existing jazz riffs while discovering new ones.
Whether or not one chooses to believe their wild backstory, Jazz Sabbath is rapidly making its way (back) to the forefront of the jazz scene, boasting three albums on the Billboard Jazz charts, sold-out shows worldwide, and rave reviews from both jazz and rock media.
