This is a short, but typically fine, performance by a very late version of a John Abercrombie Trio centered around the classic idea of a guitar-organ trio. You'll hear Abercrombie speak in the interview about his affinity for such a playing configuration. I got this and a few other shows in a snail mail trade with some folks in the UK with whom I one did that type of thing. Thanks to them, and I will add that this BBC3 broadcast has been on DIME a couple of times before, but seemingly not in about 10 years. I'm not sure how this particular grab might compare to them.
I have retracked the show in Audacity for this share to put the musical performances as the first 3 tracks. It had originally begun with the interview of Abercrombie. Not sure I'm totally correct about this, but I felt most people might prefer to listen to it that way. The interview does reveal that this particular trio was new, and that Dan Wall wasn't available for the type of commitment and touring that he'd once been up for. Abercrombie added in that he felt the Trio sounded a bit different due to the sensibilities of the 2 different organists. He said he'd be happy to record with this Trio, but that doesn't seem to have happened to my knowledge.
This was a fine FM capture, so nothing has been done to this beyond the retracking. Check the samples below to hear what you'll be getting, and those who'd gotten it here before will also get the chance to hear how this might compare to the earlier DIME shares.
