There are no fades applied to this recording; if you choose to burn to CD, the above splits are just a suggestion.
Comments: I saw Fogerty many times during the 2000's but took a break about ten years ago -- it's not as though he's writing any *new* CCR material, which comprises the bulk of his set. I felt like I should see him one last time and went into it with very low expectations -- after all, the guy is 79 years old; how much gas could be left in the tank? Turns out (as those of us who have caught any of the Rolling Stones' 2024 shows have seen), a lot. He looks great, sounds great, and moves like a man half his age.
He is also just as happy and high-energy as I remember him 20 years ago. He is touring as a "50th anniversary celebration," and spoke throughout the show about how he has finally gotten ownership over his CCR material back (you can Google the multi-generational battle between John and Saul Zaentz/Fantasy Records for more information); he has assembled a band which includes several of his sons and he exhibits pure joy playing all of this material again. I thought it would be kind of a tired retread of past glory, but instead it reminded me of just how transcendent these songs are.
In terms of the recording, I am largely happy with the sound. I was standing in the front along the rail on the left side; unfortunately I didn't catch anything from the stage amps but did get pretty good fidelity from the overhead stack. Since I had nobody in front of me, there is very little crowd noise save for my neighbors to the right chatting a bit between songs.
There were a few welcome additions to the setlist -- "Keep On Chooglin'" has been performed only sparingly during his solo career (I think), "Effigy" was totally new to me (though it's 50+ years old), and a cover of "Cotton Fields" surprised even his crew.
Recommended if you like his style of bayou rock.
Check out the samples in the comments if in doubt.
